PREPARE YOUR NEXT STEP
Working abroad: your preparation checklist
Turn a broad idea into concrete questions, official contacts, documents and a realistic budget. Start with the place and work you actually have in mind.
1. Choose a destination and job
Write down the country, region, exact job title and whether you plan to work for an employer or independently. Open that destination’s guide to find public starting contacts.
2. Check your qualification and professional title
Ask whether the activity or title needs registration. Check who handles diploma assessment and whether the employer needs a particular assessment report. Keep separate answers for separate procedures.
3. Check work and residence permission
Use the destination’s immigration authority to research the route for your nationality, activity and intended stay. Ask who submits each application and when you may begin the activity.
4. Prepare the documents actually requested
Request the current document list before ordering translations or certification. Note the organisation, contact date, official source and next action for each item.
5. Build a budget with unknowns visible
List qualification assessment, registration, examinations, language evidence, documents, permission, travel and housing where relevant. A blank amount means unknown. Check the currency and avoid adding estimates in different currencies.
6. Save your plan and confirm your next step
Each destination guide offers a checklist and personal working plan. Tick completed research, prepare questions for an authority and download your notes. Browser storage belongs to this browser; download a copy before switching devices or using an external translated page.
Before you book or pay
Confirm the relevant official requirements, accepted documents and costs with the responsible organisations. Your checklist records preparation and does not establish eligibility.
